I wrote an essay with Alix Woodard based on a perspective in a book we read called: Local Girls

Local Girls Essay

I chose to show this classwork because I had a lot of fun writting it. We wrote it as if we were one of the characters on the book named Jason. We wrote this essay last year at the end of 8th grade.

"Hey Jason!" I ignored that annoying voice echoing in my ear as I sat there starring hypnotized by the warm grass, and the silent flowing river on the rough canvas hanging on the wall. It was the only decoration in the room besides the over stuffed mattresses. "Hey Jason, you wanna come and shoot up with us?" I quickly turned around when I heard the words "shoot up". I slowly stepped towards the group of guys, even though I'd rather get high off the painting at the moment with its flowing colors and the utopian strokes. Bit I forced myself up, to sit with the guys. I sat down next to Charlie, he had just left to another world. "Hey Jason" a voice called out to me, it was Bob, Big Bob we called him. He was big, big as a horse. "So Jason, what's your story?" I didn't know what he was muttering, I assumed he was talking about my presence in this drug house, I just blurted out a few words. "I was like an anchor and my life was a boat, always trying to get away." Jason are you alright?" I could feel the tears arising from my sould. The only thing I could do was explain, even though my voice would only be heard by myslef because the other guys were lost in their own minds.
