Rice without rain

Seventeen year old, Jinda lives in a poor village where the tax rate is really high. The only way this small village has to pay for their taxes is through their harvest, but because the village is having a drought, there is barely enough food to feed the village. Her family, along with the village have to struggle to survive. Jinda's father, being head of the village, has to find a way to pay the tax men. Since the villagers do not own the land they live on and have to rent it from others, it is impossible not to pay them. As all this is going on, a group of University Students are traveling by the village and are welcomed to stay a bit. The students fill the villagers' heads with thoughts of strikes and defending themselves. In participating in this the villages life is put in great danger.
