An 8th grade poem. Boy was I odd!

Ballpark Fiasco

Whack! A ball is whipped by a bat.

A ball spirals high, high above. Soars.

Will it clear the warning track?

Sudden silence, time freezes, then life is defrosts.

Spectators scream, their team jumps in the lead.

Number Four trots around the bases,

Fists pump in the air.

Excitement takes over the stadium.

Music pumps out of the organ, fans sing along.

Fans clink their cups of beer, Belch with delight.

Unfortunate fans are doused, by accident.

Anger rises in the air.

Obscenities are yelled, punches are thrown.

Security rushes to the scene. The fighting stops.

The players, graze the field,

Don't even notice the tensions. Zoned in.

The miniscule critters roam the field, crushed by the outfielders.

Screams of terror aren't perceived.

The game goes on.

The innocence of the ballpark is anonymous.
